Welcome

We are Family for Freedom. A family of three dedicated to making our dreams come true.
Along the way we create rich experiences, meet amazing people and visit beautiful places.
We wish to inspire each and everyone to take steps to making their own dreams come true as well.

RE-CONNECT…

… with nature, humanity and adventure. By exploring the world mainly in our car and rooftop tent, we made a conscious decision to be able to tune in more with the flow of life that we want.
Which is to be more connected with our natural state of being in flow.

We believe humans should be connected to nature more than we are now and that doing so will result in a healthier and happier life!

RE-DISCOVER…

… the stories that aren’t told. During our travels, we will open up to places, experiences and pieces of knowledge that are often overlooked or ignored.

It often feels like we are making real discoveries again, even though they are simply available through our hearts and minds. To access these experiences without judgement feels like an enrichment to our lives!

RE-IMAGINE…

… what life can look like and make it real. We make our choices based on what we want as a family and not on what we have to.

In November 2023 we decided to sell our house in the Netherlands and leave the country to start travelling Europe and other parts of our beautiful planet. Along the way, we are keeping our eyes, ears and hearts open to any opportunity that feels good to us and are ready to act on them!

Frequently Asked Questions

During our preparations and along the way we get a lot of questions about what we do.
We collect the questions asked most often right here, including their answers!

1

Was Quinn okay with leaving the Netherlands?

Yes, definitely! He is actually very excited for the adventure that we are taking on and was very much looking forward for it. Along the way, we as parents see him evolving a lot both in his character and in his knowledge and skills.

2

Do you plan to travel around forever?

After having travelled around for six months we have found a plot of land in Martina Franca, Italy. We will spend time and energy in creating a new home-base for ourselves but will always want the freedom to be able to travel when and where we want to.

3

Do you always sleep together with the 3 of you in the rooftop tent?

Not always! We often change between camping in the ‘wild’, using campsites or renting a B&B. This also gives Querijn & Simone the option to have a ‘date night’ every once in a while.

4

Isn’t Quinn required to go to school?

No. We are currently no residents of any country so there is no obligation for education. However, with Querijn’s experience as a teacher we guide him with both math and language. Next to that, we strongly believe that a child learns more by experiencing the world around him then studying from a book. In this way he learns about nature, culture and develops social skills with humans and animals.

5

Don’t you miss your family and friends?

Sometimes, but not enough to not go on this adventure. We try to visit the Netherlands about twice a year to see our family and friends and of course we make new friends along the way. We also notice that in this age of digital communication, it is easier then ever to stay in touch and connect with them from a distance. Quinn seems to connect more with animals then children, and he will see his old friends when we visit the Netherlands as well. Of course he does make new friends on campsites as well.

6

Don’t you have to work for an income?

We started living from the money we received from selling our house and breaking away from a regular workweek. Of course, this is not endless and along the way we tune into what feels right for us to do and what kind of work to attract to make money again in the future. By doing so, Querijn started his own company which you can check out by clicking here.
